EARTHQUAKE IN BANGKOK AND MYANMAR A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:50 PM local time, with the epicenter near Mandalay. The quake caused significant destruction, resulting in hundreds of casualties and extensive damage to infrastructure.  The tremors were felt as far away as Bangkok, Thailand, approximately 600 miles from the epicenter. In Bangkok, the shaking led to the collapse of an under-construction 30-story building in the Chatuchak district, causing multiple fatalities and injuries.  The earthquake also caused buildings to sway, prompting evacuations and widespread panic among residents.  Rescue operations are ongoing in both Myanmar and Thailand, with international aid being mobilized to assist in relief efforts. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed as authorities continue to respond to this devastating event.
